 Awards and Recognition 

 

The KY/TN Section recognizes the contributions of water professionals and rewards these individuals who have excelled in the industry. With the ever increasing challenges facing the water  industry, it is more important than ever to honor our fellow colleagues that are deserving of recognition for their services. Every year we honor the awardees at our Water Professionals Conference.  

 

Committee Chair of the Year Award 

This award is given annually to one of the Committee Chairs for outstanding service and contribution to the Section though effective and productive committee organization and leadership.

Customer Service Award 

This award acknowledges individual employees who demonstrate outstanding customer service, flexibility, and personal attention to develop and maintain relationships with customers.

George Warren Fuller Award

The George Warren Fuller Awards are given each year, one to each section, to members of the American Water Works Association for their distinguished service to the water supply field and in commendation of the sound engineering skill, the brilliant diplomatic talent and the constructive leadership of people in the association who characterized the life of George Warren Fuller.

Kenneth J. Miller Award

The Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award was established in 2001 by the Board of Directors of Water For People to honor outstanding volunteers for their service and leadership in the advancement of Water For People’s mission at the local committee and regional levels. The Founders’ Award is presented annually to a volunteer selected by each local Water For People committee of the AWWA Section, WEA Member Association, or other governing organization.

Operator Meritorious Award

This award is given to an Operator with success in management of plant and/or distribution system performance as well as technical knowledge, regulatory compliance, and Section participation.

Selected nominated operators whose submitted information exemplifies the highest standard of these criteria will be interviewed by a member of the Honors and Awards Committee. If the Committee so chooses, a member of the Committee may interview the operator's supervisor in addition to or in lieu of the operator.

Two operator  awards will be given each year, one each for a Tennessee member and a Kentucky member (there are no size categories associated with operator awards.)

Outstanding Service Award

This award is given to recognize and honor a member who has rendered outstanding service to the Section through his or her work as an officer, on committee activities, or in other ways. The person selected for the award must have been a member of the Section for at least ten years.

Award of Excellence in Distribution System Operations

 

The criteria considered for an award shall include management, records, appearance, and the results overall of the evaluation by the Honors & Awards Committee. Awards shall be given to two plants in both Tennessee and Kentucky, one in each category with the exception of the large Distribution System where one award shall be given to the plant within the state hosting the Annual Section Conference.


Small Distribution System Operations

This award is given to a System that has less than 9,999 service connections.

Medium Distribution System Operations

This award is given to a System that has between 10,000 - 33,000 service connections.

Large Distribution System Operations

One award is given to a System that has over 33,000 service connections and is within the state hosting the Annual Seciton Water Professionals Conference.

Award of Excellence in Water Plant Operations


The criteria considered for an award shall include management, records, appearance, and the overall results of the evaluation by the Honors & Awards Committee. Awards shall be given to two plants in both Tennessee and Kentucky, one in each category with the exception of the large Plant Operations where one award shall be given to the plant within the state hosting the Annual Section Conference.


Small Plant Operations

This award is given to a Plant that produces 0-3 million gallons per day. Filtration plants and pumping plants utilizing a minimum of chlorination as treatment will be considered.

This award is given to a Plant that produces 3-10 million gallons per day.

One award is given to a Plant that produces over 10 million gallons per day and is within the state hosting the Annual Section Water Professionals Conference.
