The Competitions Committee objectives:

  1. Develop and implement ways to enhance the skills and increase the effectiveness and professionalism of operations and maintenance personnel throughout the drinking water industry.
  2. Recognize and promote excellence and professionalism in all aspects of water operations by establishing a contest(s) that gives operators the opportunity to showcase their talents.
  3. Work with the Section staff in implementing the Annual Top Ops Contest each year at the Annual Water Professionals Conference by providing officials, working with subcommittee members and the Kentucky and Tennessee Certification Sections to compose Top Ops Contest questions, supervising set-up of facilities for contests, setting up game boards and briefing teams prior to the preliminary contest, critiquing the latest contest each year for improvements, and providing updated Official Rules and Regulations to the Section Staff Advisor.
  4. Work with the Section staff in implementing the Annual Tapping Contest each year at the Annual Water Professionals Conference by providing officials for the preliminary and final contest, supervising set-up of facilities for both contests, providing briefing for teams prior to preliminary contest, critiquing the latest contest each year for improvements, and providing updated Official Rules and Regulations to the Section Staff Advisor.
  5. Work with Section staff in implementing the Annual Water Taste Test each year at the Annual Water Professionals Conference by providing officials, supervising set-up of facilities, briefing contestants prior to the contest, critiquing the latest contest each year for improvements, and providing updated Official Rules and Regulations to the Section Staff Advisor.
